Improving Ilumination

In this experience, I had the opportunity to demonstrate using a Luxometer that the mining laboratory was not in compliance with Chilean regulations regarding indoor lighting environments.

The Head of the Mining Lab, Juan Francisco, was in the process of upgrading a section of the facilities to be used as a laboratory. They sought assistance from the Maintenance department to assess the electrical status of the area designated for this purpose.

During this evaluation, we also observed that the lighting was inadequate. As a result, I decided to engage the services of the same contractor, CM (Christian Mellado Electric and Engineering), to evaluate the lighting conditions in the room. According to next detail chart:

The objective was to achieve lighting levels between 500 and 700 lux per station.

As anticipated, the achieved results fell short of our expectations (previous reading: average of 189 lux).

Subsequently, we addressed the lighting issue by installing new LED panels, resulting in a remarkable improvement

Outcome: The laboratory technicians expressed their satisfaction with the enhancement. They noted a significant change in lighting, particularly while examining solution samples.

Post-improvement reading: average of 690 lux
